Why You Need To Have Small Roofing Problems Repaired ASAP

Does your roof have a few missing shingles, one piece of peeling flashing, or a couple of missing nails? You might shrug your shoulders and figure you'll get around to making repairs in a few weeks or a few months. But this is not a wise approach! Even if your roofing issue seems minor, you need to have it addressed ASAP. Here's why.

The problem might be bigger than you think

It's really hard to tell just how bad a roof problem is just by looking. You might only see a few missing shingles from the ground, for example, but you may not realize that the underlayment and roof deck beneath those missing shingles have been damaged. It's best to have a roofer come look at the damage rather than making assumptions about its severity. This way, severe roof trouble won't go overlooked for too long.

A little water can cause big problems

All it takes is a gentle rain shower, and water can enter through the damaged section of your roof. And a few drops of water can quickly cause big problems by perpetuating mold growth. Once mold starts growing, it can take over within weeks and be really tough to get rid of. If you instead have the roof repaired immediately once you notice the damage, there is much less chance of moisture infiltration or mold growth.

Your homeowners' insurance many not cover it later

If you ignore a small roofing problem and it becomes a larger problem, your homeowners' insurance policy may not cover the damage. They might argue that you were aware of the issue and did not take action, and therefore they are not obligated to pay. If you instead call and have minor roof issues taken care of early on, your homeowners' insurance is more likely to cover it.

The repairs won't take as long

If you wait a few weeks, the damage may become more extensive, and it may then take your roofers longer to repair. This means you'll have a harder time scheduling the repairs, and you may have to hang around longer. If you instead call when the problem is new and minor, your roofers can probably get in and out a lot faster.

A roofing problem might seem small, but that's no reason to delay the need for repairs. Contact a roofing repair company in your area, and have them come take a look.
